Use an external Motion Detector before doing Object Detection with Shinobi

This guide will quickly overview how to setup an external Motion Detector, like FTP Triggering, to act as a prerequisite before running on the Object Detector. This will save additional resources on your Shinobi server.

This guide assumes you have already setup

  • Your external motion detector, like FTP Triggering
  • Your Object Detector

Open Monitor Settings for your desired Camera

A few different settings are required to make the system use your own motion detector as a prerequisite.

  • Identity > Mode > Watch-Only
  • Detector Settings > Enabled > Yes
  • Detector Settings > Send Frames > No
  • Detector Settings > Motion Detection > Use Built-in > Yes
    • Confusing, I know. In future this will not be necessary, it currently just ensures the system expects a Motion event before doing Object Detection.
  • Detector Settings > Object Detection > Enabled > Yes
  • Detector Settings > Object Detection > Check for Motion First > Yes
